Την Τετάρτη 12 Ιουλίου 2023, το Νερό Είναι Ζωή συμμετείχε στο εργαστήριο:
“Ερημοποίηση στα Αστερούσια: Απερήμωση: Συμβατικές ή φυσικές λύσεις;”

Διοργανώθηκε από το Πανεπιστήμιο Κρήτης και το Μουσείο Φυσικής Ιστορίας Κρήτης και πραγματοποιήθηκε στο παλιό δημαρχείο στον Πύργο (Δήμος Αρχανών Αστερουσίων). Περιελάμβανε παρουσιάσεις από επιστήμονες σχετικά με διαφορετικές προσεγγίσεις για την αντιμετώπιση της υδάτινης κατάστασης της περιοχής και ενημερωτική (ζωηρή) συζήτηση – και δικτύωση.

Ο Ανδρέας Ανδρέας Ζαχαριουδάκης του Νερό Είναι Ζωή δείχνει στον επικεφαλή του εργαστηρίου, Μιχάλη Προμπονά, πού δραστηριοποιείται το πρόγραμμα WiL, και μοιράζεται το έργο και την προσέγγιση του ΝεΖ για την επίλυση του προβλήματος και τη μεγάλη ανάγκη για δράσεις που στοχεύουν στη συγκομιδή και διοχεύτεση της βροχής στον υδροφόρο ορίζοντα.
Ο Κώστας Μανιαδάκης του Νερό είναι Ζωή επισημαίνει ότι αν και “οι μελέτες είναι καλές, έχουμε ήδη πολλές μελέτες που δείχνουν ξεκάθαρα ποιο είναι το πρόβλημα. Χρειαζόμαστε δράση!”

Το NewLife4Drylands στοχεύει να παράσχει ένα πλαίσιο και ένα πρωτόκολλο για τον εντοπισμό βιώσιμων λύσεων για περιοχές (όπως η δική μας) που αντιμετωπίζουν σοβαρή έλλειψη νερού και ερημοποίηση.
